Yoga is well known as a therapeutic movement cultivating strength and flexibility. This movement is a part of a larger system of Self-realization, similar to what might be called life coaching or health coaching today with a spiritual intent at it’s core. Yoga Therapy is the ancient science of using your own abilities to effect your overall wellbeing and realigning your consciousness to lasting happiness and fulfillment. Yoga therapy coaches and guides your awareness towards the pillars of health : restorative rest, appropriate nutrition, joyful movement, and quiet mind. This traditional holistic healthcare acknowledges and honors the complexity of this human experience, what happens in the mind affects the body and what happens in the body affects the mind. Yoga therapy is a process that works body to mind and mind to body, in this way Yoga therapy is able to create lasting change by addressing root causes and orienting both your body and mind to harmony, balance and fulfillment. Yoga Therapy applies the ancient holistic wisdom of yoga to your daily life, one simple step at a time. The simple practical application of daily care for your body, mind and spirit has a profound effect on your ability to cultivate resilience and thrive in this tumultuous time.

What do yoga therapy sessions look like?
Your initial session consists of a detailed intake accompanied with heart-led intuitive dialogue. This initial session begins the process of identifying your most pressing needs and what actions you are willing to take to address them. These actions include pranayama (breath work), meditation, movement (yoga asana or some other movement that gives you pleasure), dietary adjustments (either through nutritional content or behavior and attitude), and in some cases herbal supplements. Your initial session may also include CranioSacral therapy

Following sessions include practice and progressions of pranayama, meditation and movement as appropriate and hands on bodywork sessions.

Peri-Menopause and Beyond
Did you know that Pilot Whales, Orca Whales, Chimpanzees and Humans are the only animals that continue to live and thrive after they lose the ability to reproduce? Menopause is a sacred and special time of life that can begin as early as 35 years old. Yoga Therapy provides a holistic path to remaining present through this transitional period of life. Menopause is often treated as a time to grin and bear it until it’s over, this attitude does a disservice to one of the greatest opportunities that we have for spiritual growth. During menopause, many things that have been put off until our later in our bodies and minds become fully, unavoidably present. Yoga Therapy works body to mind and mind to body to process and release what is no longer needed, with gentle support alleviating the discomfort of change and growth. Depending on the severity of your discomfort and symptoms, herbs may be used, please be prepared to consult your primary healthcare provider if you are currently taking pharmaceutical medications or menopause hormone therapy (MHT).
